THE CDS COMMUNITY

Children's Day School is made up of a diverse community from the Greenwich area. Having two campuses on either side of Greenwich allows us to greater serve the residents of the area. We take pride in creating and maintaining a friendly community, where communication and collaboration between parents and the school is greatly encouraged.  Most CDS families reside in Greenwich, however, many work in the area and commute to work with their children, who stay at CDS,  while their parents are at work.   CDS is located close to the highway systems (Riverside is close to I 95 and Glenville is close to the Merrit Parkway) and both are close to the train connections, so many families are able to commute into the NYC area..

CDS works hand-in-hand with the community schools.  We help parents and children with the transition from CDS to their new school environment when the time comes.  Many of our graduates have been with us since they were infants.  Many of them will go off to school with friends they have "grown up" with.  CDS participates in the Greenwich Early Childhood Director's Group which enables our staff to have a variety of professional learning opportunities throughout the school year.  These are made possible by the Greenwich School Readiness Council and Greenwich Publics Schools.

The CDS Director and Assistant Director belong to  the Stamford Director's Consultation Group that is sponsored by the Early Childhood Consultation Partnership / Child Guidance Center of Mid-Fairfield County.  This is a confidential forum for directors to discuss areas related to social, emotional and behavioral health for young children.  Attendees have the opportunities to share concerns, ideas, and resources and learn effective new strategies for the classrooms and to share with parents.

Children’s Day School is proud to collaborate with the Early Childhood Department of Norwalk Community College to be active in and current within developments in early care and education. We are proud to host Norwalk early childhood classes at our Riverside campus, mentor Norwalk Community college student teachers and have Norwalk professors as our consultants and staff development educators. The benefits of this partnership allows us to provide the best possible educational environment and opportunities for the children and families in our care.
