Our Program: Play Based Curriculum

Children’s Day School strives to provide a program that meets the needs of all children in the classroom. The developmentally appropriate practices will insure the curriculum to be inclusive, culturally responsive  and linguistically appropriate.

Play and learning cannot be separated for young children.

Social Skills, Language Development, Problem Solving and Reasoning are all facilitated by meaningful play experiences.

Children are encouraged to make appropriate choices among several possibilities. They are encouraged to use their imagination, to improvise, to think flexibly and explore new options. These skills lead to problem solving both with materials and with people and should further lead to cooperation with others.

Centers are provided in each classroom that provoke the imagination, stimulate inquiry and promote problem solving by using unusual materials that are open ended and suggestive.

Throughout the child’s day language is all important, written and spoken to ready them for the world of literacy in which they will live. CDS strives to provide a stimulating learning environment for all children in which to succeed and to become excited about learning.
