Our Approach to Learning

Our curriculum is thoughtfully grounded in the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards, ensuring a comprehensive foundation for every child. We prioritize a holistic approach that supports cognitive growth, language acquisition, physical health, social-emotional well-being, and creative expression through meaningful interactions.

CT ELDS

The Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards identify the skills and developmental milestones children typically work toward from birth through age five, mentioning areas such as language, cognition, physical development, social-emotional growth, mathematics, science, and creative expression.

Guided by Connecticut’s Early Learning Standards

Children’s Day School uses Connecticut’s early learning frameworks to support intentional teaching and understand each child’s development.

Together, these frameworks help our teachers create intentional learning experiences while honoring each child’s individual pace of development.

CT DOTS

The Connecticut Documentation and Observation for Teaching System helps teachers observe children during everyday activities, document their progress, identify areas where additional support may be helpful, and share meaningful updates with families.

Learning Through Exploration

Nurturing Curiosity

By inspiring students to wonder and investigate, we empower their innate desire to learn about their environment through a variety of guided discovery activities.

Process-Based Play

Our play-based philosophy emphasizes the process of creation over the final product, allowing children to experiment freely with materials.

Hands-On Discovery

Experimentation and hands-on experiences help children build critical problem-solving skills as they navigate challenges in a safe environment.
