About Children's Day School
Children’s Day School provides a full-day year-round learning environment for children 6 weeks to five years old. Established in 1946 as Christian Day School, Children’s Day School (CDS) was renamed in 2000 and expanded to two campuses as a result of the collaborative efforts of the Junior League of Greenwich and the United Way of Greenwich.
We pride ourselves on the quality of our teaching staff and our efforts to support them with ongoing training and a comprehensive and competitive compensation package. CDS recently implemented significant security upgrades and policies as recommended by safety consultants in response to the events at Sandy Hook.
CDS promotes independence and intellectual, emotional, social and physical development through a curriculum that is enjoyable, stimulating age-appropriate and nurtures creativity. We create a play-based educational experience that is inclusive and culturally responsive. Our graduates are ready for school success and lifelong learning.
CDS has been able to support families for many years by providing affordable, exceptional childcare in our community. We are proud to provide need-based tuition assistance through the Heimbold Tuition Assistance Fund created in 2000. Over the past twelve years, we have awarded more than $1.2 million in assistance covering between 15 and 75% of annual tuition to our families who could not otherwise afford to attend. The Board of Children’s Day School and our 180 children and their families thank those who have contributed for your generosity as together we continue the Heimbold legacy.
